Our Food is Healthy & Mostly Organic

Primeros Pasos understands how important your child's nutrition is.  During the COVID-19 era, our prized food service continues at our Glen Park campus for the health of our children and the convenience of our families.

We provide homemade breakfast, lunch and snacks daily to all our students. Primeros Pasos emphasizes a variety of fresh and mostly organic foods to tempt your child's palate.

We support our families’ preference: breastfeeding and formula, and infants eat on their own or their families’ preferred schedules. As solids are introduced, our infants enjoy homemade fruit purees, vegetable purees, sweet potatoes puree, and the like. It is important to accustom young palates to a variety of healthful tastes.

Toddlers and preschoolers are served a variety of healthful foods. Typical breakfast foods include eggs, pancakes, cereal, and fruit. Typical lunch foods include baked chicken, quinoa, pasta, lentils, rice and beans, organic chicken nuggets, and vegetables. Palates are further developed by exploring various new tastes.

Besides nutrition, mealtimes are an excellent opportunity to develop social skills by eating in a group, as well as develop self-sufficiency skills such as helping set the table and using utensils and napkins.

We serve afternoon snack "family style", which is an excellent way for children to practice serving themselves and eating healthfully in a group.  Typical snack foods include hummus, cheese, whole grain crackers, and cut fruit.

On children's birthdays, we celebrate at afternoon snack time with homemade cake or cupcakes, which the children assist in preparing.  These are presented frosting-free, adorned with fresh fruit or other tempting choices.

Children also learn by engaging with others, which is why our teachers sit with children during meals.
